چکیده
Este artículo analiza la imagen negativa que los conquistadores españoles construyeron sobre indios pijaos con el fin de legitimar su conquista y posterior incorporación al sistema colonial. Los inventaron o resaltaron varias las características estos indios: antropofagia, dispersión asentamientos, guerras interétnicas, desnudez, pobreza, debilidad caciques, entre otros. A partir segunda mitad del siglo XVI, autoridades coloniales permitieron se organizaran verdaderas campañas guerra a “sangre fuego” facilitaron atroz brutal diferentes naciones indígenas habitaban en una zona fronteriza compartida por Nuevo Reino Granada Popayán.
